Proyecto

Santo y Seña

A self-initiated editorial project conceived as an illustrated guide to Santiago, for travelers, not tourists. A guide with an insider tone, built around real places, local character, and the kind of knowledge that only comes from living a city from the inside.

La Idea

The name says it all: santo y seña,  which means “the password” in Spanish, the code to enter a city without looking like a tourist. The concept was to create something that felt like a tip from a local, not a recommendation from a travel agency. The illustration style and layout were designed to capture Santiago’s authentic, sometimes quirky character, vernacular without being naive.

My Approach

The color palette deliberately moves away from the red and blue of the Chilean flag, choosing warmer and cooler tones that feel modern and genuine. Every visual decision, typography, illustration style, layou,  was made to reinforce the same idea: a city guide that feels made from the inside, not from the outside.
